Hi everyone!
Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog today, with a autumnal card, using the brand new A Little Nuts stamp and coordinating dies!
These squirrels are so cute and I adore the punny sentiments in the set. A big bonus is the coordinating dies for it, I am not a fan of fussy cutting. Nope.
I made a bright, sunset background with Distress Oxide inks and blended them with my Life Changing Blender Brushes. The inks I have used are Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral and Fired Brick. In hindsight, I probably should have left out the Abandoned Coral or used a deeper red, but oh well.
The squirrels are stamped up on Bristol Smooth paper with the Black Hybrid Ink and then coloured in with Zig Clean Color markers. Once they were dry, I used the coordinating diecut to cut them out. I also stamped up A BIG BUNCH of nuts. I wanted the squirrels to be hoarders, basically. These are also coloured in with Zigs and cut out with the dies. Again, thank goodness for those!!
Loaded up on nuts and squirrels, and chuckling at myself, I started building my scene. It didn’t look quite right though. Something was missing. That was solved by cutting out a Woodsy Forest Die out of watercolour paper. To add colour and texture I used some brown Zig markers on it.
Once the Woodsy Forest Die was dry, I glued it down onto my ink blended background and then started building up the scene again. The nuts got stacked up high, and then I placed one of the squirrels on top of the pile.
I cut off one of the arms to I could slide in a nut in, to make it look like she is cuddling it. The other squirrel was glued down in the opposite corner and a large nut from the tree.
To finish off the card I stamped up a couple of the sentiments from the stamp set, in Black Hybrid Ink, with the help of my Mini MISTI.
With that, the card was done! What do you think? A Little Nuts or what?? LOL!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
