Snow? Seriously? With Erica the sun-worshipper & BFF Elise

Hi guys!

Erica back on the PFS blog today. I’ve used so many different goodies and techniques on this card, the only thing missing is the kitchen sink.

The focal point of the card is the September BBF Elise girl, and she’s not happy. Dressed in a cute skirt and sweater set, she’s hanging on to summer. Much like yours truly. I am definitely a summer girl. I detest being cold. The temperature have dropped a lot here in Poland, in the last couple of weeks. Elise and I are not happy!

Ok, I’ll stop whining now and get on with the card making. On a piece of Bristol Vellum paper I did some ink blending, with the Life Changing Blender Brushes, and three shades of blue Distress Oxide inks for a dramatic background.

On top of this I have used the Pattern of Flowers stencil and Nuvo glimmer paste. It looks SO sparkly in real life! Plus it looks like snow. Because the background was a bit damp from the ink blending I held the stencil in place with PostIt tape, instead of using Pixie Spray.

Elise is stamped up with the Hybrid Black Ink  and the help of my Mini MISTI, to get a good stamp. Then I water coloured her. The colours are a mix of Daniel Smith and Arteza water colours. Once she was dry, I used the coordinating diecut to cut her out.

Because she looks so sassy, I decided to use the Seriously diecut. To match the background I heat embossed Something Borrowed embossing powder from WOW! On white card stock.

This piece I set aside and then proceeded to cut out the shadow bit and the actual word bit. I had to do both so I could keep, and use, all the negative bits from the ‘seriously’. Once these were layered up, it looked so good!

To add another wintery element to the card I used the Just A Branch diecut on vellum and added that to behind Elise. As a final flourish, and to finish off the sentiment, I stamped up ‘Here comes snow’ from the Straight From The North Pole stamp set. This I cut out with a banner die and adhered to Elise so it would look like she is saying it.

The ‘Seriously’ bit was added towards the bottom of the card and before I was tempted to add anything else, I stepped away!

That’s it from me today. Thank you for stopping by and spending this time with me, I really appreciate it and hope I have inspired you with this post!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
